65 Malibu door latch

Hi there i ordered a door latch from the US for my 65 Malibu and was sent one for a 66-67 GTO. Everything seems about the same except the door release where the pen is pointing to, about an inch difference.
I can't try it on the car as i don't have access to it at the moment. It'll be a pain in the arse if i have to order another as i'm in New Zealand. Pic of my car LS 6sp
