There are a LOT more technical players than those listed. I guess I can't appreciate the older guys. YES, they were outstanding players for sure, BUT there are better players out there.
Alex Lifeson (Rush) Steve Vai Yngwie Malmsteen Zac Brown (Zac Brown band. If you ever saw him play live, you would be amazed at how good he is.) Lindsay Buckingham (I watched him play a solo that sounded like two different guitars playing at the same time. I don't know how he did it to this day) I think any of these guitarists could play notes the top five "greatest" couldn't play. Please don't get me wrong, they ARE great, but judging solely on the ability to play the "little" notes, these guys are better in my opinion.
