and they were the number at wheels right? if so with an auto the drive train takes 20% out... putting the motor at about 400hp.

without cam numbers and knowing make/model of heads no way to know what was left on the table...

400hp out of a 454 isn't gr8 but remember the LS5 454 in 1970 made only 360hp! the ls6 450hp.

by 72 it was making only 270hp.

i think we get caught up in Magazine builds and Speed channel builds 400hp from a motor is ok for the street... and more then most these cars ever came with from GM
