Default Leaves!

It's that time of year again. Fortunately the freezing temps a few days ago brought down almost all the rest of them and they're dry so they burn up quickly. Got part of the backyard cleaned up yesterday after taking Susan to airport, she's back in LA now. Just need a few more days of dry weather to clean up the rest of them.

I'm getting too old for this shit, maybe I should just get out the chainsaw and get rid of some of these damn trees.

I chop mine up and leave them there but I seem to have a bumper crop of them this year .I have mowed them three times already and they keep on coming .I am cutting several big trees which I hope will help next year .

I feeling the same way. One tree is coming down this winter. I have hauled off 3 - 5X8 trailer loads of leaves and still have more to pick up. I'm having some of my trees cut back this year. I also hate this time of year and most of the time I have to clean them up in the rain and slop.

Hey Hank, did you know its against the law to burn leaves here in Michigan?? I used to love the smell of it when I was a kid. Now with COPD I cant stand it anymore.

EDIT

Just checked Michigan laws......it says some communities allow burning leaves.......do you live in Brighton Twsp? If so, it says ya gotta get a permit to burn.

We get a ton of them here. Went yesterday and bought Kathy her Christmas present. One of those back-pack type Stihl blowers. That sum-bitchin thing will make 212 mph winds. She's been blowing leaves alll over the place. Mostly just pushing them into the woods. Seem's to be working pretty good. She usally cuts them up with the mower too. This year she got a sweeper. That is a lot better than when we used to rake them.

We got some much needed rain today so I may take advantage of the wet leaves and chop them up tomorrow .They chop much better when they are wet as they cant fly away as easily and the dust is not nearly as bad .I bought myself a cheap backpack blower this year to blow the leaves away from the house and out of the ditch along my driveway ,makes my job a lot better.

I have a HUGE weeping willow that keeps its dang leaves til mid January. My yard is full of leaves right now, I am going to have my son mow the lawn/leaves tomorrow. But it is a pain in the butt when it snows, cause we end up racking snow and leaves. My neighbors are amazed when they see my tree as the only one in the neighborhood that has any leaves left on it. It has a mind, or time frame, of its own.
