I never tubbed. But due to running M-50's back in the day, I did trim all excess metal from the fender lip when I did the metalwork. Made it match the wheel well up in there that can't be trimmed.
Gave myself a extra half inch to play with. It is half as wide as it was factory now. Actually it turned out nice. Same width as the trim piece is. And that was a sheer stroke of luck.
