Eric,
If the starter bolt is broke off flush in the block...try drilling on it on center with a reverse fluted drill bit. I did that a few times on the 540 and as soon as the drill gets into the bolt full diameter, the broken bolt will unscrew right out.
A 1/4" drill works fine and if you can't find any I have a few...

Thanks, yeah I have a set of reverse bits. Hoping I can pull the starter and get some pliers on it. The bolt broke just past about 2 threads so I'll see. Got some bad sunburn on a jet ski in the gulf so laying on my back working on the car has been at the bottom of my want to do list! Hopefully be back and running this weekend...
