I bought the 18" case, hoping my car is quiet at cruise and idle. The factory mufflers are approximately 19" case IIRC. Trying to keep it tame without choking it.

Description: Sometimes, you just gotta have the best of everything. When it comes to flow, you can't get much better than Pypes Race Pro mufflers. These mufflers feature a 'straight-through' exhaust flow path. Their throaty sound is surprisingly tame, considering the absence of any impedance when you look down their barrel. At idle and low-rpm cruising, you will not draw much attention, but upon acceleration, bystanders look out! The Race Pros' aggressive sound is the result of applying a layer of stainless mesh around a unique internal perforated tube, accompanied by a healthy stuffing of basalt insulation before the unit is sealed. Pypes Race Pro mufflers are highly recommended for the track, where every 1/10th counts. Of course, there are plenty of these mufflers hidden under some fine street machines, too. Think of these mufflers as large inhalers for your car.
Just curious, for the price, just under $70 a piece. Do they still have the "drone" sound ? I am looking for something that sounds pretty tame for the round town driving, but when I step on it I want to know the power is there. But then again when I am cruising at 70mph, I don't want them to be really loud. I know I am asking for a lot, but I have nothing but time, 4 or 5 months, to get some feedback, and make a decision.

Every perforated core muffler I have ever had was great. (Magnaflow, Hooker Max Flow, etc.) Very mild at cruise and idle, opens up nice when you apply pressure to the loud pedal.
I expect these to be the same. I originally wanted ultra flows, but they stopped making the 18" case version in the non-welded. From what I have gotten in real world feedback, these are the next best thing.

The all elusive alternator arrived tonight. And as luck would have it... the weather turns to crap tomorrow. ::sigh:: I really need a garage...

Cleaned up the Chevelle today underneath. Found a gouge in the driveline that has me baffled where it came from. Might be pulling the drive line to take a better look. Pumped up the tires and cleaned the white letters on them. Weather was not to bad today so I polished the rims on my pickup with some of the cleaning products I used on the Chevelle.
