Ok, back on subject. Would any members be willing to at least look at the website this car is on and look at the pictures and give me their opinion on what's right, but especially what's wrong with the car? The website is Collector Motors. Thanks, Nick

I didn't see anything particularly wrong with the car. It says "extensive documentation." But, no pictures of said documentation. What do they have? Build sheet? Protecto plate? Original bill of sale?
In my experience, it's too easy to forge build sheets these days. I would want the protecto plate and any paperwork with the names and addresses of previous owners. If it were my car, the chrome rear diff cover & and mufflers would be the first things to go. The rest looks very good. Is it just me, or does the bottom of the hood look blue instead of black? And the booster/master cylinder finishes don't look quite correct. But, it could be just the flash from the camera they used. Again, overall a great-looking example of a 70' SS 396 vert. Just my $0.10 and humble opinion...

grandsport, could your point out the things under the hood that are wrong. I am not familiar with Chevelles and am learning, and I plan to have the dealer correct as best they can, or do it myself when I get the car, what ever is wrong with the car. I want it to represent what a 1970 Chevelle SS396 Convertible would look like off the showroom floor, with a little custom touches. Is the cowl not supposed to be painted blue? Is the underhood supposed to be black instead of body color? I noticed the cowl induction seems to be in an open position in all the pics, is that right? Shouldn't it be closed until vacuum causes it to open? What I'm trying to do is take a nice car, and make it nicer. I have no designs to create a clone and try and pawn it off as an original to someone else. When I switched by small block Corvette over to a big block, I made sure to call it a tribute and not an original; did some custom paint touches so it was more apparent. I think this Chevelle was a rotissere restoration (there is documentation and pictures of that), but not back to origianal. I think the previous owner pretty much built it from parts he may have had or got for a reasonable price. I pretty much did the same thing with my Vette. Keep the comments coming; you are all such a help in this. Thanks, Nick

For $70k I would expect more than a rattle can restoration.I'm sorry but that is what the chassis and motor look like. The hood and cowl should be black, hood hinges and latches should be phosphates.Wrong master cylinder and no proportioning valve. Is the tcs system there?Wrong spare wheel and the interior looks a little sloppy quality wise and there are no seat medallions. No a frame dust shields,in other words it looks to me like a lot of corners were cut on a $70k car.

grandsport...not sure what a tcs system is. What is an a frame dust shield? Is it just the master cylinder or is it the whole power brake booster and cylinder? Where should the proportioning valve be? What do you think about underneath the car? Believe me, I am not paying 70K...I am trading what is realistically a 55K car for a 55K car and some cash...and I sure hope they are not forum members and see this. Thanks again, Nick

Just saw your thread on Team Chevelle, and I see you have experienced the arrogant theme of the site. One of the reasons I left that place. If you can prove that is a real SS car,the details can be corrected wth some time and a little money.$55K is a decent price in my opinion.

Looks like you got most of your answers on the other site. It's missing a lot of things. Great color, but under the hood things are incorrect and like said repo dash and the dash pad doesn't fit correctly. It's also missing the proportioning valve on the master cylinder. It's in this photo on the lower left.
