Steering wheel resto

Among the hp in my stqble is a 59 sedan delivery of which I found an original '59 Impala steering this past week ... in need of restoration. My question is has anyone done a wheel resto and what product did you use. Por 15 sells a kit but I really dont need all the ancillary stuff like saw blades and sand paper but I definately need the filler or something else that would work on plastic. I was thinking JB Weld might work but not sure.

Any input would be appreciated.
