Hi all
I need some advise on reinstalling the front clip on my 1971 Heavy Chevy. (I had to replaced the passanger side inner fender and the core support) Where do i start , do I start with the fenders first, then install the inner fenders? Or vise vursa. Will the inner fenders fit back up in the wheel well after the front fenders are lined up and installed? Im trying to do this by myself at the moment so any tips or advise would be great. I did try the search button to no avail.. Thanks Again. |

I think you need to get the core support in place and work from there .

Inner fenders can go in after the fenders are on. You need to put the core support on, then the fenders. Alot of things will come into play to line up the fenders and hood. You will need to check door gaps, the hood gaps and hood alignment will need to be looked at also before you tighten the front end down fully. You will need some help from someone on some of it. It'sot a hard job but takes time to align everything up correctly. Some times you need to walk away for a while it things aren't going well, and then come back to it. Just don't rush it.

When I purchased my car it was dismantled. I bought a new core support and inner fenders. As said, core support first then fenders. Core support may need to be shimmed to align fender and door gap. May need to adjust side to side to align fenders with doors and quarters. Then inner fenders, front grill and hood last. Seem to work out okay for me.
