Driveshaft tunnel project

I’m in the middle of a project to enlarge my driveshaft tunnel because my driveshaft was rubbing the floor.
My car is low but not that low. But I set my engine/trans up a little higher in the chassis because they both have big, deep pans.
I had already enlarged the trans section so this really pissed me off that I missed this detail earlier.

Finally getting back to it.
Started bending up the tunnel sheetmetal, starting at the trans tunnel and working back.
Mostly tacked in to the front of the back seat.

Back on the project and close to finishing.
Driveshaft is back in.
Added Dynamat to the new tunnel
With the increased height of the new tunnel the carpet no longer reaches the door sills.
I cut the carpet up the middle and started at the sills and worked my way to the center. This way the seat and seat belt holes in the carpet fit again. I’ll have a separate piece made to cover the tunnel where the console doesn’t cover it.

Well, I had it all back together but something wasn’t right with shifting. The detents on the shifter were not lining up with the trans detents.
When I first modified the Powerglide shifter to work with the 6 speed, I measured the stroke of the shifter lever from the pivot point to the bolt hole on the bottom and the pivot point to the detents arm on the stick itself. I made graphs.
I calculated that from the shifter pivot point to the bolt hole on the bottom where the rod to the transmission connected needed to be 6.25” long. But this meant the detents on the shifter were not located correctly so I had to make my own to match what the transmission needed.
Everything worked fine. Like perfect.
But then I rebuilt the trans tunnel and the location of the shifter on the floor must have changed. It couldn’t have been much because the shifter still fit through my custom console.
But even off by a 1/4” was enough to make the detents wrong. So now I need to build another one for where the shifter is now.

The final solution to the shifter issue was a kit from Shiftworks. These guys know their shift. And a new console which I’m working on now.

I am a novice fabricator, trying to mod the trans tunnel If I could trouble you with some questions.
What material did you use to raise the floor brace?
Are those hoops in the pics just attached to the floor sheet metal?

I’m a novice too. The hoops are 1/8” steel and are shoved down into and welded to the ends of the original floor reinforcement brackets that I cut out. I’m not sure if welding to the sheetmetal floor would be strong enough.
