Default And the tranny...she is a shifting !

YEAH !!!! We got the transmission to shift out of 1st gear today. The strange thing is, it was a simple but difficult fix. Now I know that doesn't make any sense, but we are not exactly sure what really fixed the problem.

Our tranny guy told us that he suspected that it was a metalic shaving that came loose and was stuck and we just needed to shake it loose. So when Joe dropped the car off last night we tried the first suggestion. It didn't work and it was late so we decided we would try again today.

Today I pulled the car out to wash and wax it and to try the next thing to see if we could fix it. So David proceeded to unhook and "snap" the TV cable. We were told to "snap" the cable 15-20 times, hook it back up and then drive it to see if it would shift, and to continue to do this until it shifted. We did that about 5 times and it was not working. By this time it was about 6pm and I had some hungry kids so we put the car away and made another call to our guy.

Right after dinner David talked to the tranny guy and got the next suggestion which was to unhook the TV cable and drive the car like a "granny". He said this should fix it for sure. David was on the phone and my phone rang, it was my brother he was at the back door. Yeah !!! We had the guy who installed it. We went out to the garage and pulled the car out. As we were talking, I told him that he needed to get in and see if he could get it to shift. He got it to shift through all the gears sitting in the driveway. WHAT ??? I was happy, mad, excited and wondering what the heck. We decided to unhook the TV cable and see if the car would shift. IT DID !!!!! We went back to the house and put the cable back on and took it for another ride. It is shifting fine.

So we said out good-byes and I hopped into the car with grumpy and off to Woodward we went. Bumper to bumper cars on the road, people and cars on the side of the road. And my car running great. I don't know what exactly fixed the problem and I don't really care.....
