Default What a great week!

Had an MRI on my shoulder on Monday. Doc called Wednesday morning, you have a torn rotator cuff and a tear in the labrum. That's the cartilage in the joint like the meniscus in the knee joint. So I get to have surgery, oh boy.

We were headed out for a short camping trip on Wednesday, Gun Lake, MI. Our son, his fiance and her kids as well. Get to the campground and waiting to check in, we had reservations. Finally shut the motorhome off while waiting. Get checked in and MH won't start, nothing notta, zildge. Get underneath and beat on it, nope. Jump the house batteries to the engine battery, nothing.

Finally pulled the starter. Fortunately Henry was there and offered to pull it off since I have a torn rotator cuff. Drove back to town, finally found a starter we thought would work. Pretty much the same but different mounts for the heat shield. Got it started and went to the campsite.

Then it poured overnight, I mean poured. I put 6x8 blocks under the leveling jacks. One sunk halfway into the muck. Pull in the slides, raise the levelers and place a 2x8 under the block. That sunk and next day had to move the MH over to drier ground and re-level.

Go to leave today, Sunday and engine battery dead, no start. Solenoid that jumps the house batteries to engine battery must be fried because it did nothing. Get out the jumper cable and get it started.

All in all a great week. Can't wait for next week.

You're right John, nobody died, we all survived. We did go to the Gilmore Car Museum. Largest collection Duesenburgs in the world, very cool cars. Check out their website, very large collection of cars.

Saw the surgeon yesterday. Put your arm straight up, does that hurt? No. Put your arm up you back as far as it will go. Hold your arm here while I push on it. Now this way, now this way. Well your motion is good and strength is good. You have minor fraying of the rotator cuff but I don't think surgery will help. You have arthritis here and here in your shoulder. Someday you may need the joint replaced but it's not bad enough yet.

So basically, what's a little pain? Suck it up. Sleeping is over rated anyway. That was it. He offered nothing.

So I'll get another opinion, have an appointment in a couple of weeks. I haven't slept through the night this year. Something has to change.

I mentioned in another post I saw another ortho Doc. The cortisone shot he gave me helped quite a bit but didn't last. Probably because of all the stuff I did after. So I'm trying some laser therapy. Seemed to provide a little relief after the first 3 treatments. Then that tech hasn't been there. The next 2 the machine was setup differently. Maybe coincidence but I was miserable the night after the treatment. Had a little discussion about that with the office manager today. Insurance doesn't pay for it so they comped 3 more treatments. Guess will see how it goes.
